Born in 1972, Jiangyung studied art at Ningxa University in China. He lived in Beijing, working as an independent artist before moving to Lhasa, Tibet in 2001. He is one of the few artists giving voice to the Tibetan perspective. Outsiders' impressions and projections have created an image of Tibet as a fantasy, a make-believe Disneyland filled with colloquial relics of the past. Jiangyung seeks to highlight the dangers of such obviously naive assumptions and encourages the viewer to consider the Tibetan perspective.
