Instead her generation has come of age during a period of economic revolution that has led to a dramatic increase of wealth for urban dwellers. Her work reflects a fresh new China of optimism and freedom, but with an undercurrent of conformism. Her work is a critique of unquestioned commercialism and material consumption.
